Renee received a PhD in Geography from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is co-chair of the Indigenous Peoples Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers (AAG), and 2014 co-recipient of the AAG Enhancing Diversity Award. She is employed by the Institute for Policy and Social Research at the University of Kansas while living in Hilo, Hawai’i.
Co-sponsors include the Dept. of Native American Studies; Performance Studies Graduate Group; Geography Graduate Group; Cross Cultural Center; and the Environmental Justice Project of the John Muir Institute for the Environment.
