Committee on Degrees in Theater, Dance, and Media
Position Description: The Committee on Degrees in Theater, Dance, and Media (TDM) seeks applications for an Artistic
Producer. The ideal candidate will know well the current and up-and-coming performing arts scenes in Boston, New York, and
abroad, be able to recruit and coordinate guest artists to work with our students on TDM productions, and be able to teach
courses in some aspect of theater, dance and/or media. In collaboration with the TDM faculty standing and steering
committees, the artistic producer will be a crucial voice in decision-making for TDM productions, identifying and negotiating
with guest directors and designers, and seeking innovative ways for our students to explore the intersections of theater, dance,
and media. Responsibilities include:
Provide insight and oversight for production season planning from year to year.
Co-conceptualize the concentration production seasons and concentration programmatic components for the year,
and set the seasons in motion.
Oversee visiting directors and designers, ensuring they are provided with the support needed to make each
Teach a production-related studio that focuses on the current concentration production, providing continuity
throughout our robust curriculum.
Teach an additional course that may address any of the following:
o highlight non-traditional theater;
o integrate new media technologies into theater and dance performance;
o combine history, theory, and practice in innovative ways;
o focus on non-Western theater practices;
o focus on physical theater and movement for the stage, including stage combat;
o theater design;
o an approved course of your own design.
In conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, oversee senior thesis production process.
The position is for three years, with the second and third year contingent on a satisfactory performance review during the first
Basic Qualifications: B.A./B.F.A. or equivalent professional experience required. Professional experience working with artists
of varied disciplines. Demonstrated experience teaching in a performing arts field at the college level.
Additional Qualifications: M.A./M.F.A./Ph.D. preferred. Strong experience with theater production or arts management and
administration. Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours. Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff
from diverse backgrounds.
