The Anthropology of the Image Lab will be hosting Laura U. Marks next week. Laura is a leading scholar of creative infrastructures and experimental media arts in the contemporary Arab World, and a prolific film and new media theorist whose scholarship assembles in fascinating ways various philosophical registers and traditions: from Gregory Bateson’s cybernetics and theory of information to Islamic art and architecture to Gilles Deleuze’s semiotics of the image.
