Dance Studies Working Group – January and February Events

By

Dance / Space / Community Organizing
Thursday, January 19, 7:30-9:30p
Hosted by DSWG in collaboration with the FRESH Festival

Red Poppy Art House, San Francisco

The Dance Studies Working Group brings into conversation Latanya Tigner (of Dimensions Dance Theater, a resident group of Oakland’s Malonga Center) and Trisha Barua (PHD student at UC Davis, currently researching the Eastside Arts Alliance). They will discuss how Bay Area performance spaces have foregrounded community building and activism in and alongside presenting dance. Embedded within the FRESH festival, the discussion will be a means to highlight and engage with ongoing organizing efforts to bridge dance spaces and activism in the Bay. Free and open to the public.
