SUMMER SCHOOL OF CRITICISM AND THEORY
The Designated Emphasis in Critical Theory (http://crittheory.ucdavis.edu/) is pleased to issue this call for applications to attend the School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University in Summer 2017. One UC Davis Ph.D. student will once again receive funding and, through a special agreement with Cornell, guaranteed admission to this prestigious summer program.
As in previous years, the intense six-week session will allow faculty members and graduate students jointly to explore recent developments in critical thought. Additional information about the program is attached and more detail on seminars to follow shortly.
Interested UC Davis doctoral students should e-mail a one-page cover letter and a writing sample of no more than twenty pages to Prof. Jeff Fort (email@example.com) by Monday, December 5, 2016. Please cc Maria Ruby (firstname.lastname@example.org) on your email as well. The cover letter should explain briefly why the applicant believes attending the Cornell program would benefit his or her studies, and the writing sample should demonstrate serious interest in issues of critical theory. The winner will be chosen by the Critical Theory Executive Committee.
(Please note that while a good portion of the funding will come from the Office of Graduate Studies & the HArCS Dean’s Office, it is expected that the chosen graduate student’s home department will make a contribution toward covering expenses.)
