Talk by Patricia Ingham “ethics of invention”

October 5th talk by Patricia Ingham, 4pm in Sproul 912 (poster attached). Ingham’s recent book The Medieval New: Ambivalence in an Age of Innovation examines the “ethics of invention” in a period deeply preoccupied with novelty in literature, science, and philosophy; her talk extends these questions to manuscript illuminations whose witty monkeys stand at the intersection of human and animal, beneficent invention and dangerous curiosity.
