Rhetoric@Davis Fall Speaker: Dr. Ramón Martínez

By
On October 12th, Dr. Ramón Martínez, Assistant Professor of Language, Literacy, and Education at Stanford, will be speaking in SOE 174 on “Spanglish as a Literacy Tool.”
Dr. Martínez has been studying students’ use of Spanglish in and out of the classroom, both as a rhetorical event and as part of a school language community where English and Spanish  coexist and compete.
This conversation is of interest to many of our language scholars, and is particularly timely, with Proposition 58 challenging California’s “English Only” curriculum, this November.
