Please note: our own Hilary Bryan is giving a talk April 22nd!

Well Contested Sites

Friday, April 8th from 5 to 7pm
Dwinelle Annex: ARC Conference Room
on the 2nd floor of the Annex

Reggie Daniels, Ivan Corado-Vega, and Amie Dowling discuss their dance and film projects and present a screening of the dance/theater film, Well Contested Sites, which explores the issue of mass incarceration and the complexity of experiences faced by those who are incarcerated in prisons. The screening will be followed by a discussion.

Laban Movement Analysis as Methodology

Friday, April 22nd from 6 to 8pm
Dwinelle Annex 126

This talk brings doctoral candidate Hilary Bryan, who uses Laban Movement Analysis in her research and teaching, into conversation with the working group about Laban’s history, relevance, and applications. Please find attached an article Bryan from a soon-to-be-published book (and the book’s table of contents) that draws from her dissertation research and which we will discuss on the 22nd.

Please note our meeting on the 22nd begins at 6pm because there’s an event called CITIZEN DANCE happening on campus from 5 to 6pm that has been created by Cal students with hip hop/street/contemporary choreographer Amy O’Neal, and under the musical direction of classical, jazz, and funk-inspired hip hop artist Kev Choice.
