Dance Studies Working Group – September events

By

The Dance Studies Working Group has two events in September: this coming Friday (the 18th) and the following (the 25th). Details below.

Friday, September 18, 2015
Dwinelle Annex 126, 5-7pm

Our first meeting delves into these areas with a discussion of Amara Tabor-Smith’s EarthBodyHOME, a multi-media dance theater piece to be performed the following weekend at ODC. The work is inspired by the life, work and legacy of Cuban artist Ana Mendieta (1948-1985). Please join us September 18 in Dwinelle Annex 126 for a conversation with Amara entitled "Reify, Re/earth, Re/member: Choreographic process as historical research in a culture of selective memory (or in a culture of forgetting)."

For discounted tickets to the performances that take place at ODC on September 24, 25, and 26, use the code: STUDENT40. This will discount the $30 tickets to $18 and need to be purchased by Sept. 17th.

Friday, September 25, 2015
Dwinelle Annex 126, 5-6:30pm

Dissertation/article writing workshop
This is a planning meeting to collect our thoughts and structure a writing group to support each other’s research. Please come to this meeting if you are interested in being part of a writing group. Meeting will end at 6:30, so those interested can travel to the city to see Amara’s show at ODC.
